What Our Clients Tell Us...
My husband and I both felt very
prepared for the arrival of our first baby after taking the
prenatal classes at Foothills. We loved the structure of
the class, the teaching, and the information. Our
instructor gave us all the tools we needed to feel
confident in having a natural birth experience. It was more
than just lecture, there were some fun interactive games
too!
The best part was the post partum were we all got to show
off our babies and tell our birth stories. I would fully
recommend Foothills to any new mom and dad to be. We also
had our instructor as our doula and she was amazing at
keeping me relaxed and free of my fears.
The breast feeding class also equipped me with confidence
to do something I had never experienced before and was very
successful the first try.
Thank you Foothills for helping our birth experience to be
the best!

We'd like to thank Foothills Childbirth for providing us with excellent labor classes. The classes were thorough and well taught, and after completing our session we felt more confident about the coming birth of our baby.
We also benefited greatly from the series of post-partum classes. These classes were conducted in a fairly informal manner and allowed us to spend time with other new parents (and their babies) while gaining valuable information and support.

Chris and I have had many conversations with each other,
and with other parents, about how much your class
influenced the success of our birth experience. We
felt that our class was a perfect fit, and we always looked
forward to coming. In fact we were sad to give up our
weekly night out with other parents when the class was
over.
There were some tough topics to cover and we both felt that
you brought us the information always with the intent of
educating, and never with intention to influence us one way
or the other. We both felt very prepared for the
experience and our roles in it, and we felt
confident in how we would face the tough decisions if they
were to arise.
I really enjoyed watching Chris open up to the whole
process as we began to become more familiar with how this
whole strange event was likely to unfold. The
information we received in the class gave him confidence in
the process and allowed him to be a
great support to me not only through labor, but
through the rest of my pregnancy. As
teachers, we both agree that you have a great talent for
teaching!

My husband and I were so excited about having our first baby! We really wanted a natural birth, but our families teased us that it couldn't be done. We were so glad to have found the Foothills Childbirth class!
We learned everything we needed to know from what the baby is doing during labor, to what dad can do to help, to what to expect if a C-Section was necessary. Our doctor's office only offered a 7 hour, all day class.
We were really excited about Foothills having seven weeks of classes... lots of time to learn and (and especially) to review. We loved all the handouts and felt totally prepared when delivery day came. We would highly recommend this class to anyone having a baby!

My husband and I weren't sure we wanted to participate in a labor prep or a post partum class. We decided it couldn't hurt because this was our first baby. We learned enough in the first three classes to get us through labor without fear or anxiety.
Knowledge was the key, and these guys have the knowledge! We also greatly enjoyed the post partum class. The benefit was understanding for what you're going through, new friends who are also mommies and daddies, and learning great tips for helping you adjust to your little bundle of joy.

I took another labor preparation class before I attended Foothills Childbirth’s. I was surprised by the contrast. Foothills offered so much more information.
Their Labor Prep class is the only one I took with my subsequent children. I have recommended it to many. The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable and offer a wisdom that comes only with experience. They give you all the information you need and let you make the choices that work for you and your family.
My three natural births were greatly enhanced by the suggestions of the teachers and my husband felt empowered to usher me through this amazing experience. We are so happy to have found this organization.
On doula's...
Our doula offered calm and gentle support. She offered an informative viewpoint that I made the birth of my third child so much easier for me.
I felt supported and capable of handling whatever was coming my way with her in the room.
On breastfeeding class...
Was important to my success with breastfeeding. The video was great for giving you some real world perspective. In this day and age where breastfeeding technique is not passed from woman to woman this class fills that gap.

My wife and I were blessed with the birth of our first child on April 28, 2005 at 9:49 pm. With us at the delivery was Krista Garhart, our FCEA instructor.
As a new father and conscientious husband, I would like to give tribute to Krista and FCEA for their work, services, and support for families in Northern Colorado. Christine and I tried to equip ourselves with as much knowledge and tools as possible going into our childbirth. I, personally, found FCEA's approach well-suited to my needs and level of understanding. It was grounded in what I already knew through my own self-education, and effectively built on it in a way where I could easily internalize the knowledge. I found the pace appropriate and the supplemental materials accessible.
Most importantly, going into the labor and birth, I felt very confident in what was happening, what to expect, and the kinds of decisions available to us. Christine's labor was difficult - nearly 71 hours! yet, through it all, I felt like I had many tools and techniques available to me as a support person. The 7-week FCEA class really helped prepare me for my role, duties, and possibilities.
I contrast my FCEA experience with a 4 week class offered through our previous medical provider. I left that course feeling like I knew nothing about labor and birth, and without any confidence in what to do as a support person. It had a highly hospital/medical orientation, implying that neither my wife nor I had any control over the labor or birthing process. The class did not provide much information about the birth process itself, compared to what Krista presented in our class. In comparing the two, FCEA clearly stands heads-and-shoulders above the medical provider's sanctioned class. Looking back, I truly wonder how our classmates in the provider's class fared in their labors and births; all were gripped by fear of the whole experience and the class did nothing to assuage this fear and provide any knowledge and confidence. In fact, in many ways it fed into this perceived lack of control.
In sum, the greatest benefit of
the FCEA class was having the presence of mind and spirit
to support my wife in her labor and delivery. Krista was
incredibly supportive and giving of her time and energy
throughout the class and then through our labor and
delivery. Having Krista at our delivery was especially
beneficial for providing hands-on assistance with the first
breast-feeding attempt as the hospital staff and midwife
were busy dealing with other things.
Thank you for providing such a needed service to our
community. As a husband and father, I was able to be there
physically and emotionally for Christine in this most
special moment in our lives.

"Before the birth of our second child, my husband and I attended the childbirth refresher sessions. Even though we'd been through this before, it's amazing how much you forget and no two births are alike! Our instructor allowed us to discuss and learn from our previous birth experiences. This was more helpful than diagrams and videos alone. We felt so much more prepared. The classes truly educated us and helped build our confidence, which was key to our successful labor and delivery. We almost didn't sign up and we're so grateful we did!"
- Wendy and Jim Abbott
"The classes really helped us put our fears about labor and delivery aside and allowed us to focus on the excitement and miracle of our baby's birth. The postpartum classes were just as important. All the couples from our class still meet. It's great to see the kids grow and it gives the parents a chance to reconnect."
- Meg and Tommy Doyle.
"We were thrilled to have the natural labor and birth experience we wanted. The FCEA training was instrumental in helping us achieve our goals. The classes prepared us well. During labor we used many of the relaxation and birthing techniques we learned. The classes were fun, packed with information, and very beneficial. We highly recommend the FCEA program to all expectant parents."

"Besides learning about what happens during labor and
birth, we made great friends in our class. Our instructor
was invaluable support during labor and delivery. As
nervous new parents, we really looked forward to our weekly
postpartum classes. In fact, we loved them so much, the
moms in our classes started a playgroup. We still meet
every week, and our children are toddlers now!"
